About Nancy

Nancy

I was a lucky girl who always carried a camera. Being engaged to one of the most famous musicians on the planet I had the privilege to live behind the velvet rope with a front row seat to 1970s music that changed our lives. Here are some of my favorite images, some never before seen. Enjoy!

The Beginning

While working as a Ford model in the early 1970s I became more interested in clicking the shutter rather than being the subject. One day while working for the eminent Milton Green, and having a deep discussion about lighting, he handed me a camera and taught me how to load film, instructed me to go out and shoot and bring the film back. That was the beginning of my life-long love affair with the camera.

Rock Photographer
Encouraged by my fiancé, Ringo Starr, I began shooting fashion assignments for designer boutiques along Rodeo Drive and trendy Melrose Avenue. I moved quickly into the music business, photographing many of our famous friends, as well as shooting publicity and photo packages for two of Starr’s albums: Ringo the 4th and Bad Boy and publicity for the Ringo Special.

Nashville
I moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1994 and opened my photography studio in Cummins Station. In 1996 I was appointed director of photography for Twang, a Vanity Fair take on country music. I photographed many country stars and hopeful artists over the next twenty years. CD packages, magazine covers, directing music videos and image consulting.

Books

A Dose of Rock ‘n’ Roll, my coffee table book, reveals the intimate access to music royalty while I was engaged to Ringo Starr for six years. The photographs, beginning in 1974, present assorted iconic images that have become an historical imprint of that era.  Among legendary names pictured in this compilation besides Ringo are George Harrison, Keith Moon, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and Gregg Allman, to name a few.

Ringo Starr – Photographs, all personal images of the famous drummer. A limited edition, signed and numbered book with a bonus 8×10 photograph that is signed and numbered of Ringo that matches the book. This is only available here through my website.
